THE FIRST WORLD PIZZA SUMMIT 2022 IN MADRID: PROGRAM

The world pizza community will meet on November 21st and 22nd

An authenic world summit on the best-loved food on the planet: Pizza. The El Beatriz auditorium in Madrid will be the scene of two days of debates and exploratory discussion, on the 21st and 22nd of November. The First World Pizza Summit will give a new insight into dough and toppings which will be at the center of the discussion.  The economic and social impact that pizza is having worldwide will also be examined. The main themes will be the importance of craftsmanship, training, and the standards applied when training to work in the field of pizza making.

The curators of the 50 Top Pizza guide, Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere will open the event. The first two exchanges will see the participation of Anthony Mangieri, of Una Pizza Napoletana in New York and Francesco Martucci, ofI Masanielli – Francesco Martucci in Caserta.  These two establishments currently hold the top spot as the number one pizzerias in the world for the 50 Top Pizza World awards of 2022, which was presented last September the 7th at Palazzo Reale in Naples, Italy. The first session will focus on “From Pizzeria to Brand”, which concentrates on the transition from the individual pizzeria to the artisan pizzeria chain. The second session will cover the importance of remaining artisans while offering a quality standard to the proposal. On the first day, various events in the Food Hall will take place, which is a space dedicated to the gastronomic excellence of Made in Italy.

The second day will open with a segment dedicated to export and Made in Italy. It will be attended by some of the most prestigious businesses in the Italian agri-food sector. The second segment of this day will be presided over by some of the protagonists of Spanish pizzerias, and it will be presented by Luis Suárez de Lezo, of the Academia madrileña de gastronomía who will discuss the developments of quality pizza in Spain, which is definitely establishing itself in terms of quality and innovation in the European panorama. The summit will continue with exchanges aimed at discussing the background and history of some of the most famous artisan pizzeria chains in the world, which will be presenting their vision and their way of approaching the consumer market.

This will be an important moment of interaction,” say curators Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere “for the great community of quality pizza worldwide. Dealing with the current topics of the moment is essential. What we wish to convey to our community is a 360 ° overview of what it means to do business in the world of pizza. It will be a privilege to have such an in-depth and broad look at this sector, seen from the perspective of guests who will bring us their various testimonies from different parts of the world .”

 

We chose Madrid for our first annual summit,” continue the curators, “because it is currently the most dynamic European city in terms of rapid growth when it comes to the quality of its pizzerias.”
