Few people love pizza as much as the Americans do. They are without a doubt among the highest consumers of this product on the planet.  93% of Americans eat pizza at least once a month.  The average slice per capita is impressive: 46, and even more amazing is the fact that 40 percent of the United States’ population has pizza regularly once a week.

The United Sates is also the country that offers the most variety of pizza styles:  the New York Style, Chicago Style, Detroit Style, and the California Style are the most famous with many further variants present across the country.

Also amazing are the results of the study commissioned by the AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana), the Association of Authentic Neapolitan Pizza.  The American Institute of Neuroscience conducted the research and presented their findings at the world Pizza Expo in Las Vegas:  the Authentic Neapolitan pizza is the most popular variety in the United States.

Whether you like it or not, the word “Naples,” especially outside of Italy, is a brand synonymous to high-quality pizza, and it is well known that good branding means more business.  Therefore, a definition of what exactly Neapolitan pizza is and if it is liked or not outside of Naples is purely academic.  The irrefutable fact is that no other style has demonstrated such a significant growth in Italy, Europe or abroad as the Neapolitan, especially after it was recognized by the UNESCO.  The 50 Top Pizza USA 2022 ranking exemplifies this with Una Pizza Napoletana in New York, Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco and Ribalta NYC in New York, all three of which are at the top of our list this year.
